Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly bookish meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl that features a different bookish topic every week.
Today’s topic is Books I HAD to Have Immediately but Still Haven’t Read
I have no excuses (except too many books, too little time)! 😭
Top Ten Books I HAD to Have Immediately but Still Haven’t Read

- The Glass Chateau by Stephen P. Kiernan – This book came out three years ago and I was so excited for it and feature it on almost every To-Read list since then but I still haven’t read it!
- Under the Eagle by Simon Scarrow – I was looking for books about ancient Rome and came across this one and immediately had to get it, but it’s just been languishing on the TBR.
- The Mighty Red by Louise Erdrich – Borrowed the book the moment I saw it featured in the library, bought the audiobook not long after, and still haven’t gotten around to it.
- Strong Ground by Brene Brown – I bought it the day it released and yet it’s still unread.
- S. by J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst – I loved the whole concept of this book and obviously needed a physical copy. I haven’t read it because it’s something I feel needs to be savored and I feel like I have to block off some meaningful time for it.
- Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth – It’s been featured on my To-Read lists many times too and I still haven’t read it.
- Between Us by Mhairi McFarlane – Same with this one.
- The Ides of April by Lindsey Davis – To be fair, there are 14 books in this series and it’s difficult to start another new long-running series when I haven’t finished so many other series I’ve already started.
- Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter by Heather Fawcett – I wanted it. I needed it. I haven’t read it.
- Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder – It’s been 20 years since I added this one to my TBR. I’d mostly forgotten about it but recently got interested in it again. Will it wait another 20 years on my TBR? Who knows?!
Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Would you read any of these books?

Maria’s book gets such rave reviews but I’ve never really given them a closer look. Hope you enjoy these all!!
I haven’t read Mad Mabel yet either.
Agnes Aubert definitely could’ve been on my list today too. Honestly, there’s no shortage of options for me 🫣🤣 I still need to read Poison Study as well, and welp, I can’t even remember when I first added that to my TBR, lol. I hope you enjoy all of these whenever you get to them!
Re your thoughts on Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter: same.
Poison Study is one I read (about 20 years ago, lol) but have been wanting to reread for a while.
Oh, Between Us is one I really wanted to read too! I love so many Mhairi McFarlane books, so I don’t know why I still haven’t picked this one up yet.
We are all the same, see the book, want to read the book, buy the book, can’t find the time to read the book! I don’t have any of these but I do want to buy Mad Mabel when I am out book shopping next.
I’ve seen Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter on a lot of lists! I have actually read it and I liked it, it was cute!
I have Mad Mabel and the Mystical Cat Shelter also on my TBR.
I hope you end up loving all of these books once you get to them 🙂

I remember liking Poison Study! Can’t say if it’s stood the test of time, but my sister loved it too and I think reread it recently…
Mabel and Agnes await their introductions here as well! I never even read Poison Study, whoops.

Mad Mabel is wonderful, I enjoyed Between Us but there was less romance in it than I was expecting.
Thanks for sharing your #TTT
I have both Mad Mabel and the Louise Erdrich book on my list to read. I actually checked out MM from the library, but I never got around to reading it. I liked Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter way more than I expected to.
I love MAD MABEL. Sally Hepworth is a favorite author of mine and MAD MABEL is my second favorite of her books. THE GOOD SISTER is first. I hope you love it and all these others when you get to them!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

I can’t wait to read that Heather Fawcett book – it sounds so good!
The only one of these that I’ve read is Mad Mabel, and I highly recommend it.
