Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly bookish meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl that features a different bookish topic every week.
Todayβs topic isΒ Book Series I Want to Catch Up OnΒ Β
My TBR haunts me, it really does. And the series are the scariest because one book leads to another and another and another… Yet, they’re also the best because it’s very likely that if you like one, you’ll like the next. Sometimes I never want a series to end but alas, these are the first world reader problems I face every day. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has listed and inevitably adding a few new series to my TBR from seeing your lists! π
Top Ten Book Series I Want to Finish

- The Memoirs of Lady Trent series by Marie Brennan – I read the first book in 2014, more than ten years ago! I remember loving it at the time but I haven’t continued the rest of the series and I don’t know why. I need to start over!
- The Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolkien – I have the full audiobook series narrated by Andy Serkis and I was so excited to listen to them, but the first night I did, Serkis’ scary Gollum voice woke me up in the middle of the night and I haven’t dared to read it to bed since. I’ll have to try again while I’m awake in the daytime.
- The Dark Tower series by Stephen King – Technically, I read the first book a long time ago and didn’t like it at the time, but I’ve changed my mind about Stephen King recently and I’m doing a personal Stephen King reading challenge, so I’m going to have to come back to this.
- Poison Study series by Maria V. Snyder – This has been on my TBR forever, it’s embarrassing at this point.
- Maddaddam series by Margaret Atwood – I read Oryx & Crake a couple of years ago but never got around to the rest of the series. I’ve forgotten enough that I’ll need to reread the first book again before moving on to the others.
- The Murderbot Diaries series by Martha Wells – I read and loved the first six books of The Murderbot Diaries, but two more have been released and I haven’t read those! I’ll also need to reread the first six before reading the latest two!
- Bobiverse series by Dennis E. Taylor – I am currently in the middle of this series! I have just finished the first two and am on the third. Hoping to finish this one up until the latest book instead of leaving it for years and having to reread again later.
- The Saint of Steel series by T. Kingfisher – I just bought the full series on audio and I am excited to dive into them right after I finish the Bobiverse! Fingers crossed!
- The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater – I’m on the fence with this one. I just finished The Raven Boys a couple of months ago but I’m not sure I like it and I’m not sure if I want to finish the rest of the series…but I already bought the whole set so I feel like I should.
- Spellshop series by Sarah Beth Durst – I read The Spellshop not long ago and loved it, but apparently there are already two more new books in the series already released and another one coming out next year! I need to catch up!
Have you read any of these series? What did you think of them? Would you read any of these series?

I read the second book in the Oryx and Crake series but never went back to read the first.
Iβm hesitant to ever start a series due to the ongoing commitment. I looked through my Goodreads list today of series books Iβve read over the years and almost all were when I was reading a lot more YA books.
Good luck.
I hope you enjoy reading these when you have time. I love the reason behind not finishing The Lord of the Rings yet.

These look good. I did read The Spell Shop but haven’t read the rest of the series. I’m in no hurry to.
My TBR shelves are definitely haunting me too π
Have a great week!

Ooh, great list! I also need to catch up with Murderbot and The Spellshop series (although I’ve read the second one already). I totally forgot about The Raven Boys, but I can fully relate with you about being on the fence about it. I feel like it’s such a “cult classic” YA paranormal (romance?) with how well-loved it is, but I honestly felt a little ‘whelmed’ by it. π« Also, if you want to give the audiobook for Lady Trent a try, I would *highly* recommend it. It’s soo good!
Paladins Grace and We Are Bob are two Iβd like to start!
Thanks for sharing your #TTT
I’m a dabbler at everything I do. Even though I read a lot, I dabble in my series, reading book one of this one and book one of that one rather than reading a whole series.
Gollum scared me, too, and I only read the books. π
I have put the 2nd LOTR book on my TTT post as well π I also have the first book in the Paladin’s Grace series on my TBR. I hope you make progress on some of these soon!

I have the dark tower on my list also. It’s one of my husband’s favorites so I’ve always meant to read it.
You know I’ll always cheer on reading Marie Brennan, ahaha!
I have never read the Tolkien novels OR seen any of the adaptations. But I know they are counted as classics and favorites of SO many. π Hope you enjoy these all once you read them. Happy reading and thanks for visiting my list today.
I’ve read LOTR, but that’s it from your list. I’ve had POISON STUDY on my shelf for forever, but I still haven’t read it. One of these days!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

The Lord of the Rings series is so good! I just recently picked up The Spellshop, but I haven’t read it yet. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I was recently looking at starting a series and then realized it had twenty something books, I was like, nope, I’m out, LOL! I can’t make that kind of commitment, intentionally. Yet, in my younger days I talked things like Sue Grafton’s alphabet series. Funny how things change. Good luck with making progress with these.
omg I had the same issue with Murderbot – so many books to reread before continuing with the newest releases π I managed to do it this year but I still haven’t read the last one…ahh I guess this is a good reminder to pick it up as soon as possible lol
All the best with these series. I only ever read one book by Maggie Stiefvater but I didn’t really like it, something with flesh eating horses.
The Bobiverse is one series I still want to start! The Memoirs of Lady Trent is another. I’ve read several of the other series on your list, but I have to say that waking up to Gollum’s voice is not an experience I would want (even though I’ve read LOTR several times at this point).
Iβve been buddy reading The Lady Trent series and loving it so much, only have one book left! I highly recommend it π Omg waking up to the Gollum voice is terrifying π! I listened to the Andy Serkis narration for The Hobbit and sadly didnβt like it, I hope you have better luck with it π Iβm also looking forward to continuing the Spellshop series since I loved the first one. So many other ones on your list are on my tbr π
