Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly bookish meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl that features a different bookish topic every week.
Todayβs topic isΒ Satisfying Book SeriesΒ
This was a dangerous topic for me; I ended up reminiscing about so many of these series and wanting to reread them! Plus, it also reminded me of many series I haven’t finished and now I have more books on my TBR!
Top Ten Satisfying Book Series

- The Hunger GamesΒ by Suzanne CollinsΒ β Whether you count this series as just the original trilogy, or also include the two prequels, this is one of my favorite series that only gets better with every reread. I get more out of it and see things I missed before every time I read it.
- Super PoweredsΒ by Drew HayesΒ β I had so much fun with this series. The writing is definitely not sophisticated at all, but the storytelling is so immersive and I love all the characters! It was fun and thrills all the way from start to finish.
- The Prison HealerΒ by Lynette NoniΒ β Objectively, this isn’t as well known as the other books on the list but I have fond memories of reading it, and I think maybe one of the reasons I loved it is because I came in without any expectations and ended up loving it.
- The Green Bone SagaΒ by Fonda LeeΒ β This series is incredible in a way I’m not sure how to describe. It feels real. It feels important. It feels like an epic that should be in the realm of LOTR but for urban fantasy. It is intense, and just so good.
- Rook & RoseΒ by M.A. CarrickΒ β I love the world-building and magical system in this series. I also really love the characters and their chemistry with each other. It’s one of the newer series I’ve finished (that wasn’t a reread) and that I know I will love even more with every reread.
- Oz: The Complete CollectionΒ by L. Frank BaumΒ β This is my first time reading the Oz books and I was so surprised at how much more there is to them compared to the movies and Wicked retelling. I’m sure I would’ve loved these stories as a child, but honestly, they are pretty incredible reading as an adult too!
- Anne of Green GablesΒ by L.M. MontgomeryΒ β These are books I read as a child and they have remained one of my favorite series ever since. They are some of my favorite comfort reads and I know I can never go wrong with them.
- Daughter of Smoke and BoneΒ by Laini TaylorΒ β It’s been a while since I read this series but I remember loving them so much at the time. I’m definitely feeling the itch to reread!
- Dragonlance: ChroniclesΒ by Margaret Weis and Tracy HickmanΒ β I just reread the first three books and have put it on hold because I’m missing the fourth book. I’d forgotten so much of the details and was quite surprised, and shocked, by some of the things that happened, but they are still amazing!
- The Lunar ChroniclesΒ by Marissa MeyerΒ β Another series I haven’t read in a while. I love fairytale retellings and I loved the different perspectives this series offered. It’s time to schedule a reread for these books too!
I’m usually good about limiting my TTT list to ten, but here are some notable ones I loved but didn’t put on the list because they are still ongoing or unfinished, or some other reason. They are all still worth reading though, imho!
- Dungeon Crawler CarlΒ by Matt DinnimanΒ β Currently reading for the first time and I’m on the 6th book. It’s still ongoing but I love every book so far!
- Red Rising SagaΒ by Pierce BrownΒ β If you count only the first three books, they’re finished and very good on their own, but the story that started from Book 4 onwards isn’t finished yet and I’m still waiting anxiously to find out what happens to my beloved characters!
- WayfarersΒ by Becky ChambersΒ β This series is finished as far as I know, and I love it more than some of the other books in the TTT list, but every book is pretty much only tangentially related and can be read as standalones, so I decided to keep it off the TTT list.
- Fred, The Vampire AccountantΒ by Drew HayesΒ β This is also a finished series and one I loved, but I already have a series by the same author on the TTT so this one only gets a notable mention.
- The Murderbot DairiesΒ by Martha WellsΒ β Still ongoing, and there’s also a TV series out! I am loving it so much so far!
- HeartstopperΒ by Alice OsemanΒ β This series has my heart. I love it. I was so sad to hear the TV series has been cancelled, but I’m glad there’s still a book to look forward to.
- A Song of Ice and FireΒ by George R.R. MartinΒ β I know, I know! But I was already listing unfinished book series, so I might as well, right?! Thing is, whether this series ever gets finished or not, the ones that are already out are amazing, and I honestly think they are still worth reading even if we never get an ending. These books helped me through a tough time and I can’t imagine never having them in my life.
Have you read any of these series? What did you think of them? Would you read any of them?

I should have added the ‘Anne’ books to my list of titles I need to read. I loved the 80s dramas. Also, I too was remined of the fact that I still have lots of series to finish …and too many to start as well! π
I get it! I love/hate series too, because sometimes I want more, but sometimes if they run on too long, they get repetitive and I need variety in my stories.
Oooh Daughter of Smoke and Bone! I loved the first one but never really finished it. Maybe its time for a re-read!
I want to reread it too! It’s been a while!
I loved the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, too. I haven’t thought of it for many years.
Same, I have a lot of nostalgic feelings for it though!
I read The Oz series last year for a readathon. It really was an interesting challenge.

The Oz series really surprised me! I’m so glad I read them.
I’ve only ever read the first book in the Oz series and a couple of the Anne of Green Gables books. I’ve enjoyed them, but never thought about finishing the series. I feel bad about Heartstopper. I’ve adored the books, but I only watched some of season 1.

Heartstopper is honestly a gem, I don’t know why it got canceled, but Netflix seems to have a tendency to cancel a lot of good series.
I finally got around to reading the Oz series a year ago, and I want to read the Anne of Green Gable series one of these days.
They’re some of my favorite books, I hope you love them too!
Yes to Dragonlance and Otik’s spicy potatoes!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I love it! Dragonlance for the win!
Naturally, I had The Green Bone Saga on my list today because I can never not when it comes to featuring this series in any capacity! π€£ I can’t believe I forgot about The Lunar Chronicles and Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I also can’t believe I forgot Wayfarers! π€¦π»ββοΈ My memory…
It’s a good thing! There are so many great series out there!
Iβve seen Jade City everywhere this week!
It’s a good one!
These sound good. I don’t read many series so I had to go back quite a few years to make a list of 10 π
Have a great week!

If you decide to start reading series again, you’ve got a lot to choose from with this week’s topic! I’ve already added a whole bunch of new ones to my tbr!
Oh man, yes. Talking about series I love makes me just want to reread the books! π
I also left The Murderbot Diaries off mu list since it isn’t actually finished. I love that series! I didn’t include Wayfarers because I haven’t finished reading it, but I agree with your comment about it being essentially a “series of standalones” and that makes it hard to include on a list like this one.
The Wayfarers are such an interesting series because I honestly love the characters so much and wish we could see more of them, but every single book after has so many new characters that I love too. I just really want to see more of all of them!
We have some in common this week!! Woohoo, for Jade City!! <3
Hell yeah!
I keep thinking I need to reread the Anne of Green Gables series as an adult. I wonder if I would enjoy it as much as I did as a child.
I hope that you do! For me, every time I read it, it feels like the inner child in me takes control and I just fall into nostalgia!
Finally The Prison Healer is on another list! I forgot to add Daughter of Smoke and Bone myself, but I never finished the third and final book. Couldn’t do it. But, Strange the Dreamer should have been on the list. Another forgotten gem.

I haven’t read Strange the Dreamer, but I keep meaning to! Soon!!
Anne of Green Gables *is* awesome.
Absolutely!
That’s a fantastic selection of books! I can see why this topic was dangerous for your TBR pileβit makes me want to start a re-read, too. I particularly appreciate your high praise for *The Green Bone Saga*; comparing it to an epic like *The Lord of the Rings* is huge, and I am now even more eager to pick it up!
I hope you love it! They’re obviously different stories, but I feel like The Green Bone Saga should be an enduring series for sure!
Aw, I didn’t know the Heartstopper TV series had been cancelled, I thought it was doing really well. Not that I often get round to watching TV anyway, but it was kinda on my list…
It’s still worth watching if you get the time! It’s just the best thing!
I’ve read the first three Anne books and I loved them. I have also liked most of the Murderbot books. π
They’re some of my favorites! The new Murderbot TV series is pretty good so far too!
I really liked Cinder and Scarlet, but have not read the third in the series. Enjoy!
Thank you! The series is great but it’s time for a reread!
I’m not a big series kind of reader ….. but I did read The Hunger Games books. And I had to find out how that went down. lol.
