Sunday Post | A Very Book Blog-ish Week

Welcome to the Sunday Post, a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer to share weekly news and updates on what we’ve been up to on our blog, with our books, and book-related happenings.

A Very Book Blog-ish Week

Happy New Year!

I hope the first week of 2024 went well for everyone. My first week was pretty slow, I haven’t gotten back into the groove of work yet, but I did manage to read some books and write some reviews. I also posted a few book tags which I thought were fun, and I hope if you’re so inclined, you’ll do some of them too. Let me know if you do! Or if you already did!

The Spotify Wrapped Book Tag 2023 is for matching 3-5 songs you listened to in 2023 to the books you read in 2023, in any way that makes sense to you.

My Life in Books 2023 Tag is for matching some fun prompts with book titles that fit the prompts.

The 2023 End of Year Book Survey helps you look back on your stats and best books of the year. There are some very thoughtful questions and I had fun thinking back to the books that fit the questions.

About password-protected posts for spoiler-y discussions

I also wanted to find a way to discuss spoilers in books without spoiling it for those who haven’t read them, because I just finished reading Holly by Stephen King, and I have to talk about the ending. I ended up posting it as a password-protected post, so if you’ve read the book and are interested in reading my post, go to Notes & Discussion for Holly by Stephen King, password is “SPOILME0001”.

I’m happy with the set up, I think. It’s too early to tell.

But I do like feeling like I can be free to talk about all the spoiler-y stuff with abandon on password-protected posts. I hope to add more spoiler-y discussions posts as I go, and I hope you will join me for some of them if you’ve read the books. Each of the posts have to have unique passwords, but it’s going to be the same formula for all of them, and it’s posted at the top of my blog so anyone who wants to can access them.

As for the upcoming week, my intentions are to read books that count towards all the reading challenges I signed up for!

The book tags and memes haven’t been good for me, I keep adding new books to the TBR, and reading some of them before reading the ones that had been on my TBR for ages and are the reasons I signed up for those challenges in the first place! Book gods, give me the strength to resist new books!

Last Week on The Blog

This Week

I believe I can finish The Librarian Spy by Madeline Martin this week, and The September House by Carissa Orlando. Both are new additions to my TBR. Sigh.

I hope you had a great week last week, and I hope you have a great one again this week!

    • Thanks! I hope you’ll come back for the spoilered post if you read Holly. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Have a great reading week too!

    • I’ve done short paragraphs spoilers on some of my review posts, but the things I had to say about Holly were really longwinded, I guess. Lol!

  1. I think we all have the problem of putting newer books or newer to us books that we discover from our bookish friends, before the ones we’ve had forever, LOL! If you find a solution, let us know. Have a great week!

  2. Your password post ideas sounds ingenious. There are books I also want to talk about the ending and twists and all that. I usually just put “(Spoilers)” in the title so my readers know to avoid the post if they haven’t read the book. I hope you have a good week! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

    • I’ve done short-paragraph spoilers on my review posts, but this one was particularly long so I decided on a different post for it. I also have other spoilery notes and stuff I want to add in the future, so I thought I’d try this. Hopefully it works out and doesn’t end up getting too messy! I hope you have a good week too!

  3. Happy New Year! Looks like you had a good first week of 2024.

Password-protected posts for spoilery discussions—what a great idea! I hope it works out for you. I can’t join you for this one, because I haven’t read Holly, but I’d love to hear how that goes. I have occasionally included spoilers in reviews, using hidden text so people can read it only if they are interested… but that does mean the comments may be spoilery, too.

    • Yeah that’s true. I don’t know how to hide spoilers in the comments, but hopefully the password protected posts work out so I don’t have to worry about that!

  4. That is a really good idea for how to discuss the endings of books! I hope it works out and now I think I might do the same for movies. Hmmm….

Good luck with your reading week!

  5. What a great idea for a way to talk about the end of books! I know sometimes I really want to talk about an ending and end up talking to my husband who didn’t read the book–it’s not quite as satisfying as talking to someone who has read the book. I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great week!

    • I agree! My husband isn’t much of a reader and he does listen when I tell him about the books I read, but it’s so much more satisfying to talk to someone who has read it! I hope you have a great week too!

  6. I like the idea of password protecting spoilers! I love your year end summary of your year in books too! I hope you have a wonderful 2024 and a great week ahead!

  7. I am not the person to keep you from getting more books. It is frustrating sometimes not to be able to read more or read faster. That requires some prioritization in the actual reading. I’ve started the Mercedes trilogy and then hope to move on to Holly’s trilogy. I don’t read much horror but these I could handle.

    • Oh I’m so happy to hear you’re reading the Mr. Mercedes series and then Holly’s! I hope you enjoy them all as much as I did!
